Toolbox theory / Teaching NotesNon-music skillsLife managementIn music, just as in most walks of life it is important to have good life management skills. There skills are many and varied but we believe that the following are probably the most important.
Firm Foundations
First of all it is important that you keep fit and healthy.. Many musicians have poor lifestyles because they spend quite a lot of time travelling on the road and more time hanging around waiting for gigs. They tend to work late at night and they are also exposed to the ready availability of both legal and illegal substances and other unhealthy lifestyle choices. Therefore they need to be aware of the the dangers that are out there and the likely consequences of their choices Balance Much of success in life is built on a stable platform of firm foundations. This can be described in many ways. One way is to look at is the pillars that support a building or the legs that support a chair. In life, we like to regard the four pillars of Body, Mind, Heart and Spirit as being key. If these are strong and well balanced your life should thrive, if they are weak and unbalanced then your life will become unstable and topple over like a building whose foundations are weak or a chair whose logs are not of equal length.
